Atlanta
One of the
fastest growing cities in the U.S., Atlanta
is a modern, cosmopolitan city with widely diverse business,
education and cultural opportunities. The city has a rich history,
strong international flavor and traditional southern charm. As home
to CNN, Coca-Cola and other multi-national companies, Atlanta is at
the forefront of technological advances and globalization.
The school is located in the fashionable Buckhead district of Atlanta,
minutes from downtown Atlanta by train. Across the street is the popular Lenox Square Shopping Mall. Students may
choose to attend business or computer classes at Herzing College,
located in the same building, or to continue their academic studies
at one of Atlanta's many colleges or universities, including Emory
University and Georgia Tech.
Social and
recreational activities are planned regularly for Language Program students such as tours of CNN studios; visits to Coca-Cola,
the Martin Luther King Center, Six Flags Amusement Park, and various
museums and historical sites; and movies, plays, concerts and
sporting events. Atlanta is home to professional sports teams such
as the Braves (baseball), Hawks (basketball), Falcons (football) and
Thrashers (ice hockey).
Atlanta is a
gateway city to many other Southeastern U.S. locations, including
Disney World, New Orleans and Nashville, and has easy connections to
major destinations in the U.S. and around the world.
ATTRACTIONS
CNN
Center
This facility houses media giant CNN and other Turner
networks such as CNN/Sports Illustrated. Tour the
network's state of the art control room, the newsroom,
the Turner store and even participate in the daily
"Talk Back Live" show or become an anchor or
weather person for the day.
The
World of Coca-Cola
Atlanta is the birth place and home of the
world-famous beverage, Coca-Cola. View the rich
history and the progression of the soft drink that was
created 110 years ago, and tour the facility where you
can see, hear, and even taste the incredible history,
as well as sample the future Coca-Cola.
Six
Flags Amusement Park
One of the more popular attractions among ELS students
is the Six Flags Amusement Park with a wide assortment
of roller coasters and other thrilling rides and
attractions.
Underground
Atlanta
Atlanta began as a railroad town in 1836. There was a
railroad connecting Atlanta and Chattanooga, with 138
mile markers placed along the route. The Zero Milepost
still stands at Underground Atlanta today. In the
current Underground mall area, people come to meet,
dine, shop and have fun.

Martin
Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site
As birth place of the renowned Civil Rights leader,
Martin Luther King, Jr., evidence of the extraordinary
history of the Civil Rights movement is found all
along Auburn Avenue and the surrounding residential
community known as "Sweet Auburn." The
historic site includes Dr. King*s grave and a Visitor´s
Center showing exhibits and videos which take you
through the history of Dr. King´s life and his
fight for equality, love and nonviolence.
Stone
Mountain
Visit the breathtaking site of Stone Mountain where
famous leaders of the 19th Century Southern
Confederacy have their faces carved into the side of
the mountain.
'The
Fabulous Fox'
Attend a concert, play, ballet or opera at the famous
Fox Theater which is an historic site in Atlanta, as
well as a center for the arts.
Museums
Atlanta has a number of fascinating museums and art
galleries including the High Museum of Art, the
Fernbank Museum, the Atlanta History Center, and the
Woodruff Arts Center.
