New Haven
Advanced students (Levels 107-109) may enroll in University of New Haven
classes concurrently with their ELS Language Centers program. Level 109 graduates may
participate in an Internship Experience program with local businesses. An International
Business certificate course is offered to students in Level 108 and above
THE LOCAL
AREA
New Haven is known for its continuing tradition as a national educational
and cultural center. Home to world-renowned Yale University, the city provides a
college-town atmosphere where social and cultural activities are planned with students in
mind.
ACTIVITIES
Take day trips to New York City and Boston; Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., are close
enough for weekend excursions. Ski in the winter; go to the beach in the summer
both just minutes from the Center.
Yale University - As one of the world renowned Ivy League Universities,
Yale dominates life in New Haven. Visit the theaters or museums, tour the hospital, or
take part in one of the many Yale eventsto the public.
Mystic Seaport The seaport at Mystic carries you back to the days of whaling and
tall ships. You can relive a bit of history in this beautiful park-like setting and tour
historic sailing ships like the Amistad.
Riverside Amusement Park - New England's largest amusement park is just 45 minutes away
from New Haven in Agawam, Mass. Water slides, roller coasters, car races and concerts are
just a few of the fun ways to spend a day at the park.
Ski slopes From nearby local slopes to the Mountains in Vermont and New Hampshire,
New England skiing is fun for the beginner and the expert. Ski, snowboard or just sit by
the fire drinking cocoa and enjoying the winter landscape.
Beaches From local West Haven to the Beaches of Rhode Island, there are many places
to take in the sun and sand for a couple of hours or a couple of days during the hotter
summer months in Connecticut.
