Intensive English Programs
Santa Barbara, CA
The school is situated within the Francisco Torres Student Center, just five blocks
from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and a short walk from the
spectacular Pacific Ocean beaches. The 10-story complex comprises classrooms and office
space, as well as accommodations for more than 1,300 students most from UCSB.
THE
LOCAL AREA
Beautiful Santa Barbara is a friendly coastal city with a Mediterranean ambiance and
lively college-town spirit. Less than two hours away are the excitement and entertainment
of Los Angeles, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Beverly Hills, and, of course,
Hollywood.
ACTIVITIES
Athletic facilities abound, including tennis courts, a swimming pool, sand volleyball
court and fitness center. In addition, recreational facilities at the University will be
available for our students' use. And great news for golfing students within walking
distance of Francisco Torres is a public nine-hole golf course.
Paseo Nuevo - Located in downtown Santa Barbara, it is a site of specialty shops, art
galleries, and fine restaurants. You will find stores such as Nordstroms, The Gap, Banana
Republic, and Macy's.
Santa Barbara Mission - The "Queen of Missions" was founded in 1786, tenth of 21
Franciscan missions in California. Unique twin bell towers and view make this a great
place to take pictures! Daily self guided tours available.
Stearn's Wharf - Located at the foot of State Street, it is the oldest operating wharf on
the West Coast. This landmark offers souvenir shops, Sea Center, whale watching
(seasonal), wine tasting, restaurants and much more!
Solvang - Small Danish town located 45 miles northeast of Santa Barbara. This town has
retained its cultural identity in its many shops and restaurants. You will also find an
'Outlet Shopping Center' with many stores.
Camarillo/Ventura - Located only 30 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara, you will find
'Camarillo Premium Outlets'. Has over 100 stores with savings every day! Nike, The Gap,
Calvin Klein, and Levi's are just a few of the stores there.
