The school is located on the campus of Dominican College in San Rafael, just 12 miles
north of San Francisco in Marin County. Facilities include a computer and multimedia
center, swimming pool, fitness center, tennis courts and cafe.
THE
LOCAL AREA
San Rafael features a turn-of the century downtown area and quiet residential
neighborhoods. It is just 20 minutes away by bus from San Francisco.
ACTIVITIES
Sausalito/Tiburon: 15 minutes by ferry boat from San Francisco, these quaint seaside
villages are perched along the Golden Gate coastline and look directly across the bay to
the fabulous San Francisco skyline. Lots of boutiques, restaurants and sidewalk cafes in a
setting with a European flair and wonderful climate.
Napa Valley: About 45 minutes Northeast of San Francisco by car, Napa Valley offers a
serene pastoral landscape filled with verdant valleys ideal for the production of fine
wines. Wine tasting, excellent restaurants, boutiques and premium outlet shopping can
occupy you for a day or a week.
Monterey/Carmel: In Monterey explore the rugged California headlands and jagged shoreline,
take in spectacular views and visit the new Monterey Bay Aquarium. Or go a few miles
farther South to the quaint community of Carmel by the Sea which offers inviting shops,
restaurants, art galleries and a breathtaking 17 mile drive up the scenic California
coast.
Lake Tahoe: Located in the majestic Sierra Nevada mountain range, Lake Tahoe, the largest,
deepest alpine lake in North America, is an all-season outdoor adventurer's paradise. This
amazing wilderness area offers boating, water skiing, fishing, camping, hiking and some of
the world's best winter skiing. Also, just a short distance from the bright lights of
Nevada's Casinos.
Yosemite National Park: Loved by people from around the world, this park awes visitors
with its towering monoliths and dramatic waterfalls. The park is a photographer's paradise
with Half Dome and Glacier Point providing majestic subjects and sweeping views.
